This is to offer patients prebooked appointments who find it difficult to come to the surgery during normal working hours. Telephone Advice
All the doctors are willing to speak to patients over the telephone. Please ring the surgery if you do need telephone advice and the receptionists will advise you of the best time to speak to the doctor. Please note if you require advice, you will be put through to the doctor on call who may not necessarily be the doctor of your choice. If you are told the doctor will telephone you back, please give a choice of suitable times.
Home Visits
The doctors are happy to visit housebound, elderly and terminally ill patients at home if there is a medical need for a home visit. Please tell the surgery receptionist as soon as possible that day, preferably before 10.30am and the doctor will then discuss your problem and decide where it is best to see you.
Babies and children with any illness, fever, diarrhoea, vomiting, earache or a rash will be asked to be brought to the surgery and will be seen quickly. Adults with similar illnesses can also be seen quicker at the surgery. Home visits will be made only for medical grounds and not on social grounds, such as lack of transport -we do not do home visiting simply because there is no car, or because someone has had a drink and can't drive. In these circumstances we may ask you to order a taxi.
Please do be aware that in the time it takes to do one home visit, five patients can be seen in the surgery.
Private Examinations
Insurance and other private medical examinations are by appointment only. Please specify when booking. We charge British Medical Association recommended fees for non-National Health Service services (i.e. private), for example private sick notes and reports to private health insurance companies.
