Meadowside Surgery was built around 1880. The 1890 Ordinance Survey map of Lancaster clearly shows the building on the edge of the Pointer roundabout, backing onto open fields.

Patients have been treated at Meadowside for over one hundred years. The original surgery was housed in number 1 Meadowside, but in 1998 the next door house was bought and the surgery was doubled in size. Retaining many of its original features, such as Victorian fireplaces, sash windows and lawned gardens, Meadowside surgery remains full of character.
